Your "Lawyer for Life"

Sarah L. Ostahowski, Esq.

Sarah Ostahowski is a dedicated Attorney who focuses on estate planning, probate and estate administration. Sarah is a trusted advisor who, throughout your lifetime, helps you make the best personal, financial, legal and business decisions for your family, and is also there to guide your loved ones when you are no longer able.

As the wife of a military veteran, Sarah knows how vital it is to have the right family plan in place. Sarah has centered her practice on helping families plan for life’s unexpected circumstances. Because she understands the importance of having someone to turn to for guidance and support, she strives to foster a life-long relationship with her clients and their families.

Sarah's Law Firm, is a very different type of law firm.

  • Everything Sarah does is billed on a flat-fee basis, agreed upon in advance, so there are never any surprises. The only exception to the flat fee is if a court or the law requires hourly billing.
  • Sarah offers flexibility to “meet you where you are” both in time and place. She is happy to arrange appointments both in the evening and on the weekend. If you are unable to come to the office, she will come to you. Sarah prides herself in being able to help clients all over the state of Michigan.
  • Sarah is here for the long haul. She wants to be your “Lawyer for Life”—the person you call when any event, big or small, comes up for which you may need legal guidance. And when your estate planning needs change, she will be there to make the changes so you don’t have to start all over again with someone new. In fact, she does a free review of her clients’ estate planning documents every three years to ensure the documents are up-to-date and work when your family needs them most.

Sarah’s diverse background helps her understand the differing circumstances, backgrounds and lifestyles of her clients. After graduating from Shepherd High School she attended Alma College where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in Business Administration and Dance and Theater. While attending Alma College she also worked part-time at Mid Michigan Medical Center—Gratiot, and after she graduated, she was hired on full time in the Human Resources Department where she eventually became the primary recruiter for the health system. After spending three years in Human Resources, Sarah decided it was time to reach for her dream and go to law school.

At Thomas M. Cooley Law School Sarah excelled. She was the Managing Editor of the Law Review, a Teacher’s Assistant in the 60+ Estate Planning Clinic, a Research Assistant (where she helped to write two Constitutional Law text books), and graduated in the top 10% of her class. Sarah also worked full-time while attending law school as an Investment Advisor and Office Manager for a financial planning firm in East Lansing. She holds both a series 7 and 66 license.

Sarah is a new mom and is passionate about spending time with her husband Eric and daughter Victoria, as well as 3 fun loving dogs. She also enjoys volunteering as a Choreographer and Dance Instructor at the local schools and is the Director of the Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival Royalty Pageant.  Sarah is a Member of Shepherd Chamber of Commerce, Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce, Alma Woman's Club, Gratiot  and Isabella County Bar Associations, the Michigan Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. She is a frequent speaker at Thomas M. Cooley Law School and the Institute for Continuing Legal Education.
